The buckeye tree is native and produces a nut that is dark brown color with a light brown spot. Ohio has a long tradition of the buckeye because it is the state's official tree and nut. It also represents the eye of a deer, which also happens to be the state's official animal (the white-tailed deer).
The buckeye is also the mascot and nickname of one of THE largest universities in the country with some of the best football (and the best damn band) in the land (aka 'Buckeye Nation').
It is a renowned symbol of prosperity, good luck, wealth, wisdom and good fortune, and while real buckeyes are not edible, it has been made into a candy confection loaded with peanut butter and chocolate (what could be better?), and is eaten at events and during the holiday season.
And... you get 4 of them. The number 4 symbolizes the elements of air, water, fire, and earth, representing the importance of collaboration and unity in achieving goals. #4 also embodies practicality, structure, hard work, responsibility and completeness.
the Background
Our buckeyes are based on an Ohio family tradition, and we have specifically incorporated it into your custom treats for this evening. Each buckeye is handmade with good vibes and a deep love for a rich, decadent treat. It's a beautiful harmony of peanut butter and chocolate, with a special sweet melody of extra!
What makes ours so good?
It's a family recipe from my aunt. Every year since we were young, my Aunt Kathy would gather her family to make these delicious confections to share with all family and friends for the holidays. With her support and permission, we've decided to take this recipe, glow-it-up, and share it with the world!
It's the love, care, family and community of CLE and OH that we put into everything we do. We are a small *yet growing* woman-owned, commercial bakery with an unwavering spirit and tenacity that does not quit!
